Action Map — The Long Goodbye

Kit 15 · The Long Goodbye · deliverable · designed and built by I Wayan Usada — instructional design portfolio

The goal

Care staff respond to dementia moments by joining her reality — honouring the emotion, skipping the false fact, giving the feeling somewhere to go — in all four scored moments.

What people do instead

Staff either correct the false fact (which breaks contact) or drift into deception; the middle skill — validation with an exit — was never practiced.

The actions that close the gap

#BehaviorWhat it looks likeWhere the artifact trains it
1Join the emotion before addressing contentresponse opens where she ismoment forks
2Give the feeling somewhere to goeach right answer ends in a walk, story, search or windowresponse anatomy
3Discuss the hard cases honestlyethical dilemmas named, not smootheddebrief

What this training will not do

It will not certify validation therapy — it trains one discussable habit with the debate named honestly.

How the artifact scores the actions

Debrief scores the single lens — joined or abandoned — per moment, and names the therapeutic debate honestly.
