## The goal

Early-career teachers diagnose the barrier before intervening: choices scored as diagnose-or-add-a-task in >=75% of lesson moments.

## What people do instead

Under pressure, teachers add tasks (worksheets, seating changes) instead of diagnosing the barrier — busy classrooms reward activity, not diagnosis.

## The actions that close the gap

| # | Behavior | What it looks like | Where the artifact trains it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | **Name the barrier type before acting** | barrier identified from the moment's evidence | moment forks |
| 2 | **Choose the diagnostic move over the task move** | every fork has a plausible task-distractor | three-move forks |
| 3 | **Name what each choice cost each student** | cost-naming feedback, student by student | moment feedback |

## What this training will not do

It will not teach behavior management systems — the unit is the diagnosis habit inside ordinary lesson moments.

## How the artifact scores the actions

Debrief scores the diagnose-or-add-a-task lens across moments and names the habit: evidence first, task last.
